Amboseli National Park: Comprehensive Expedition Overview

Spanning 392 square kilometers, Amboseli is world-renowned for offering the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro and housing Africa’s longest-studied elephant population.

Amboseli National Park lies directly under the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Meltwater from the snow-capped volcano creates permanent underground springs that feed lush green swamps in an otherwise arid landscape.

These swamps attract immense herds of free-ranging elephants, including famous matriarchal families and legendary "big tuskers"—elephants carrying ivory so long it grazes the ground.

From Observation Hill, travelers enjoy 360-degree panoramas of the park’s swamps, dust devils crossing dried lake beds, and thousands of grazing wildebeest and zebras.
