Buffalo Springs is named after a natural crystal-clear spring created by WWII bomb detonations that tapped into deep underground aquifers. Today, this thermal spring pool remains a vital watering hole for wildlife and bird species.
Shaba National Reserve is famous for its dramatic river gorges, volcanic domes, and heritage as the sanctuary where Joy Adamson reintroduced Penny the Leopard to the wild.
Together, these reserves host thriving populations of cheetahs, leopards, reticulated giraffes, and rare bird species including the vulturine guineafowl.
