Lake Naivasha & Hell’s Gate: Comprehensive Expedition Overview
Located at an elevation of 1,884 meters, Lake Naivasha is the highest lake in the Rift Valley. Adjacent Hell’s Gate National Park allows travelers to cycle or hike among wildlife.
Lake Naivasha is a freshwater haven home to over 1,500 hippos and 400 species of birds including African fish eagles. Boat tours take guests close to hippo pods and to Crescent Island, where visitors walk freely among grazing giraffes, wildebeests, and waterbucks.
At Hell’s Gate, dramatic red cliffs, obsidian rock formations, and geothermal steam columns create a surreal setting inspired by scenes in The Lion King.
