Maasai Mara National Reserve: Comprehensive Expedition Overview

Covering 1,510 square kilometers, the Maasai Mara is Africa’s premier game reserve, celebrated globally for the Great Migration and unexcelled lion and cheetah sightings.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is the northern continuation of Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem. Between July and October, over 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras, and gazelles surge across the Mara River in search of fresh green pastures.

The Mara River crossings are heart-pounding spectacles where massive herds brave plunging currents and lurking Nile crocodiles, watched by expectant prides of Mara lions and cheetah coalitions on the riverbanks.

Year-round, the Mara holds the highest concentration of big cats in East Africa, alongside black rhinos, elephants, topis, and over 470 species of birds.
